The fast printing speed of HP products can stun new owners. For instance the HP 2580 is able to produce as many as 30 pages of copy in 60 seconds when using the standard, black HP ink cartridge. The sharp resolution (600×600 dpi) will result in clear images even if you are not using any of the colored inks.

The colored ink options can produce a resolution as high as 1200×1200 dpi and the speed of printing remains an impressive 24ppm.

It is interesting to note that while the black ink cartridge can be replaced once the contents of the cartridge have been exhausted the colored ink cartridges do not offer this same luxury.

The yellow, cyan and magenta colors are available only as a 3 color HP ink cartridge.

This means that whenever one of these colored inks has been exhausted the owner of an HP 2580 must purchase another 3 color cartridge. This leaves only two real options, ante up the money for the multi-color ink cartridge, or print in black ink only.
